A closed shoe holds on to water once it gets in. This one works the other way round. The open air mesh lets water pour back out with every step and keeps drying as you walk, and on a hot, dry stretch the same mesh lets the breeze reach your feet.
Smooth river stones and mossy ledges are where slips happen. The rubber paw pads under this shoe are made to grip right there, so you can step across without testing every rock first.
No stopping to swap shoes when the path runs into a stream. Walk the trail, wade the shallows, stand in a rock pool or cast from the bank, then keep going in the same pair. It is not waterproof, and it is not meant to be: water drains out instead of sloshing around inside.

Summer hiking, fishing, stream crossings, wet rock and muddy paths. This is not a waterproof shoe, and that is deliberate. It sheds water and dries rather than trying to keep it out, which is the right trade when your feet are going to get wet anyway.
Rinse off mud with clean water and air-dry away from direct heat. Keep it out of strong sun and away from radiators.
