Terrain X

The Terrain X is a mid-cut hiking boot for the days the weather does not cooperate. It is waterproof, so wet grass, puddles and steady rain stay outside the boot, and the stretch fabric upper still breathes instead of turning into a sauna on a climb. The collar sits above the ankle for support on uneven ground without locking the joint, and the outsole runs a deep multi-directional tread that bites into mud, gravel and wet rock. A pair weighs about 890 grams.

Fit and sizing

True to size, and cut mid so the collar sits above the ankle. These follow standard athletic sizing, so order the size you normally take in trainers. Available in EU 39 to 47, and the size chart lists the foot length in centimetres for every size, which is the quickest way to check.

Terrain and use

Made for hiking and trekking on rough ground: wet trails, mud, loose gravel, scree and wet rock. The mid collar and the deep tread are the two things that matter most coming down a slope with a pack on. Waterproof is not the same as submersible, so water deeper than the collar will still come in over the top.

Care

Rinse mud off with clean water and dry at room temperature, away from radiators and direct heat. Take the insole out to speed up drying. Once the upper starts to wet out instead of beading, a reproofing spray brings the water repellency back.
